Ted Simpson’s unique and unmistakeable voice makes for an origional Australian country sound!

Ted's singing career started attending Sydney Conservatorium of Music. A short time later Ted and and his friend Rick Lum formed a band which eventually became top Sydney band "HUSH". Unfortunately Ted had to leave the band due to a National Service call up and spent the next few years in the Australian Army.

After leaving the Army Ted pursued the musical career winning the much publicised "Jack Brabham’s Search For A Star" for which he received a new car!

In 1999 Ted met Sydney guitarist Mark Kirk. A great mateship developed, and a band was formed "Tall Timbre". Many songs written and many gigs played until Mark’s untimely death in 2008.

Tall Timbre's easy listening style of adult contemporary Australiana country is heavily interspersed with solid original material from the pen of prolific writers Ted Simpson and the late Mark Kirk. From the CD "After The Grind", "Swing That Axe" was influenced by Mark’s father, who was a timber cutter near Glen Davis. "Murrumbidgee Rolling" speaks of the longing for home when you’re out on the road touring "Roads I Didn’t Take" is about falling in love, while other topics covered include tributes to Australian pioneers, shipwrecks, lost love and much more. You’ve probably heard Tall Timbre on the radio or caught a clip of theirs on CMC. Currently Swing That Axe is being screened.

Anyone who’s ever tuned in to Ray Hadley on 2GB would be familiar with the theme song, "Everybody’s Talkin", recorded by Tall Timbre, from their original self-titled album. Actress-director Rachel Ward chose "Girl With A Country Heart" using it twice in the movie soundtrack of "Martha’s New Coat" (2003).

Ted and Tall Timbre have supported several major acts including Russell Morris, Darryl Cotton, Jim Keays and Wendy Stapleton, and play to packed houses each year at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

Ted and the boys tour regularly and love nothing better than to perform before a live audience, be it on a harbour cruise or in the remote outback of Australia.

Ted's latest CD "Runaway Train" features the cream of Australian Country musicians. Recorded at Ramrod Studios, Sydney by the award winning Herm Kovac.
